Antique Handmade Butter Paddle
The tactile nature of this hand carved antique butter paddle makes me happy. I bought it from a French dealer but it could easily be from Wales. I’m no expert! Approximately 10ins long and the spoon paddle is 3.75ins wide; it is likely beech, sycamore or maple. These specific hardwoods were used to prevent the wood from absorbing moisture and odors. A traditional dairy tool from 19th and early 20th centuries to extract excess buttermilk. I love it. Now highly collectible.
