One last hoorah before the leaves turn 🍂

Has this week felt a little like Autumn is on its way?

I’m still holding out hope for one last hoorah, a final blast of sunshine, though I know the gardens could still do with a good soak.

I love all the seasons for their differences and soon we’ll be using words like “hygge,” “autumnal hues,” “cosy,” and “candlelight.” I’m not so keen on the damp, cold days but it is a good excuse to snuggle down and enjoy producing chestnut coloured photos and warm, comforting words!

I’ve spotted Halloween stock creeping into the shops already… but let’s not get too carried away and instead enjoy the last days of summer here at Elsie’s Vintage.

As we get our young people ready for their next adventure in September; perhaps bundle them off to college or university with a box full of vintage glasses, cups, saucers and plates. Wrap them up in a not-quite-new coat, a woolly hat, a scarf with history. After all, it’s cool to be different.

Dig out that vintage suitcase from the loft and fill it with cosy blankets, tapestry cushions, maybe even an old frame with favourite photos from home. An old poster or two might just make their new walls feel a little more theirs.

Why buy new when there’s so much joy in giving vintage a second life?

Until next time.
