Every year, for the last four years, I have holidayed with a friend I’ve known for about 40 years. It’s our annual break; somewhere hot, interesting and in an hotel where we do nothing but relax.
This year we chose Madeira. An island we have both wanted to visit and it certainly hasn’t disappointed so far.
We chose a fortnight this year and, although initially I was concerned it would be too long, I realise now it is perfect. After the three days it takes us both to de-stress; we still have plenty of time left to truly relax and enjoy our long awaited break.

I decided that, alongside plenty of walking, I would swim each morning to try and get a certain level of fitness back. So far, I have managed that and, although I’m not quite at the ‘enjoying it stage’, I am proud of myself for persevering.
Yesterday saw us aboard the hotel shuttle bus and a visit to Funchal. Boy, we crammed plenty in; cable car rides, walking and the famous toboggan basket ride!

The views were spectacular and the ride not as scary as I imagined.
Tomorrow, it’s a catamaran trip and hoping to see dolphins, whales or turtles. I’ll keep you posted!
In the meantime, my website remains open for business and I dip in to Instagram as and when.
Until next time! 🩵☀️💛
