FRESH EYES FOR SPRING

As I look out of The Shack into the field on one side and my garden on the other, I am enjoying the bobbing daffodils, the brightly coloured tulips and all the green surrounding me. Who knew there were so many greens!

Spring is truly here and it always inspires. New growth, hope and freshness. Not just in the garden but also in our homes.

Change can be frightening but also exhilarating. Whether it’s a life change or finally plucking up the courage to decorate a room.

Adding vintage or antique pieces can, perhaps surprisingly, rejuvenate. Placing a single mirror or painting in a forgotten corner, an old watering can and riddle against a garden wall, adding a shelf and filling it with small ironstone pieces in the kitchen; not such daunting changes perhaps, but what a joy.

I found an old wheelbarrow that had been discarded. It now lives next to The Shack filled with Auricular and I love it. It has transformed an otherwise dead area. Hardly any effort needed. A small change but it makes a difference.

A set of step ladders with a couple of planks against the workshop wall provides space for old terracotta pots filled with seasonal plants. More joy!

Life brings about change and sometimes it can be unexpected, sad and tricky to navigate. I have no perfect answers, but nature and vintage help me to heal and move forward. I hope they help you too.

Until next time. Elsie. 🌸
