A Little Trip
I’ve been away for a few days exploring Shropshire; an area of the UK I’ve not visited before.
Sometimes it’s good to just walk away from the usual way of life and take a breath.
I went with a dear friend and, although the British weather wasn’t always kind and we had to change our planned excursions; we made the most of every day.

Food was high on our agenda and we certainly
found plenty of independent cafes to try out breakfast and lunches!

We first stayed in a beautifully renovated old barn with exposed beams and stunning views of the Long Mynd. We even fed their Alpacas on our final morning. Well, my friend did; I took the photos!

The marvellous Victorian village at Ironbridge was a real highlight of our trip. To see so many of the vintage and antique pieces displayed in the authentic houses, shops and even a Pharmacy was a real delight. The shop fittings and ledgers gave a real insight to the Victorian world.

Just look at all those apothecary pots and as for the drawers! I used to be a Pharmacy Dispenser so this was all fascinating.

The village shop displayed so many instantly recognisable everyday items; many of which I source and sell at Elsie’s Vintage. So lovely to see them in the beautiful cabinets and know that they really were as we thought they would be.

I love ghost signs on the sides of old buildings. This one must surely have been renovated as it was so striking. Imagine having the skill to produce that so neatly; especially at that angle and height.
We also visited some markets and I just love taking photos of fruit and vegetables so I was in my element! Please tell me it’s not just me!

All too soon it was time to return home, but we made some wonderful memories and spending time with my friend was very special too. Despite the rain and impending storms, we enjoyed our few days in Shropshire and will definitely be returning.
