Vintage Sample Tin for Carr’s of Carlisle

Did you know that Carr & Co Ltd are the oldest biscuit manufacturer in the world? Established in 1831 and the first biscuit manufacturer to be given a Royal Warrant. It was issued by Queen Victoria in 1841. This glorious tin clearly says Sample on the base and would have been gifted to shopkeepers by the travelling salesman of the time. It is rusty but still retains that red and blue colour. The hinges work and the lid closes. A great collectors item or store your bits and bobs, buttons and bows! Measures 5ins x 3.25ins x 2.75ins tall.
