Antique French Stoneware Yellow Ware Bowl
There is a makers mark on the base but I can’t quite read it. This is likely a French Yellow Ware milk pan. These pans were traditionally used to make butter; setting out to separate the cream from the milk. The thick cream would rise to the top where it was skimmed off and used to make butter. In a warm honey brown glazed finish, which does show just the right amount of wear. Some chips and a fabulous patina I wouldn’t use it as originally intended, but it is such a glorious colour for all sorts of arrangements and uses. I have tried to show some here. Cones, candles, seasonal fruit & veg! From 19th century kitchens and now quite rare. Measures 12ins diameter x 3ins tall.
