‘La Lecture’ Framed Antique Reproduction Print

It was the beautiful frame that first caught my eye. The print, of an idyllic outdoor scene, is presented inside a distinctive oval mount housed within a square gilded wood frame. The corners of the mount show decorative gold leaf distressing, typical of mid-20th-century Florentine or Victorian-style home decor reproductions that were popular imports from Italy. The original ‘La Lecture’ by Jean Baptiste-Hilaire is part of the Louvre Museum collection in Paris. Measures 16ins x 14.25ins.
