Antique Stoneware Clarke’s Food Warmer
A rare item and an intriguing piece with enticing typography from the 1800’s. Clarke’s food warmer ‘pannikin’ was used mainly in the nursery for warming milk or ‘pap’; a bread and milk mixture. Quite commonplace for invalids too. The stoneware jug was placed in a metal liner which in turn was put over a nightlight to gently heat. Signs of age, as you would expect but overall an exciting acquisition and in very good antique condition. Measures 4.5ins tall x 5ins across the top.
