Antique French ‘Quimper’ Faience Plate
Instantly recognisable, even though it is clearly marked on the rear, as being hand-painted Quimper tin glazed earthenware. This plate is signed PP, handpainted , and marked HB referring to the Hubaudière-Bousquet factory; one of the primary producers of Quimper ware. Likely from the late 19th century and a pretty traditional floral design in pinks, blue, green and a spot of orange. There are two aged chips, as shown, on the edge and there is the usual crazing for a plate of this age. Wonderful on a dresser or wall. Measures 9.5ins diameter.
