Antique Bishop & Stonier ‘Sinope’ Tureen
I couldn’t resist such a pretty and antique soup tureen. It really cheered up my rainy day search for treasure. By Bishop & Stonier who were active from 1891 - 1939 in Hanley, Stoke on Trent; home of The Potteries and well renowned. It is in the ‘Sinope’ design with pretty pink flowers, green foliage and splashes of yellow on a blue fringe. Complete with its original lid with that glorious floral knob. It is buttery in places with crazing and a small bit crack at the top on one side. I think this is my favourite tureen as it is a perfect shape and size as well as a glorious pattern. There is the hole for a ladle too. Measures 11ins width including side handles and 8ins to the top of the handle.
