Historically used by cobblers and shoemakers as an anvil to shape, repair and make boots and shoes. They came in all different sizes and shapes for different footwear styles. This one is a detachable form designed to slot onto a heavy base or stand. Extremely heavy as it is made of cast iron! Nowadays they make great doorstops, decorative pieces on a fire surround, paperweights or bookends. Measures 8.5ins x 7ins high.
