Large Traditional Wooden Printing Block
This traditional hand-carved wooden printing block was historically used in textile industries for manual fabric stamp printing. It would press dye or ink repeatedly onto textiles like cotton and silk. In an intricate, raised relief pattern depicting trailing vines, leaves, and small floral motifs; it is truly beautiful. There are handles carved into the sides for ease of grip and on the rear is the pattern code. You can see where two blocks have been joined together thus making the printing process quicker and more economical. Made traditionally from durable hardwood like teak, oak or rosewood. Measures 16ins x 7ins x 2.25ins. Great condition and a lovely decorative piece on your shelf or coffee table.
